TOWNS AND VILLAGES OF THE AREA

 

Most of the towns and villages are located along the Amur-Yakut Highway and along BAM railroad.The average population age is 25.5 years old.

Ust'-Nyukzha: a village on the left bank of Nyukzha River, 370 km northwest from Tynda.The population consists primarily of Evenki and Yakuts.One can find a well organized hunting-farming Sovkhoz (collective farm) "Leni-Okton" here ("Lenin's Way").There is a secondary school, a social club, a library, a hospital and a communications center in the village.Also there is a seismic station.The railroad station is 12 km away on the other bank of Nyukzha River.The river crossing is done using fishing boats.The population is 605 persons (out of which 345 are Evenki).

Lopchi: a railroad station on the BAM line, a typical mainline settlement.The majority of buildings are temporary wooden structures, mainly 1-story.The settlement is 185 km northwest from Tynda.It was founded in 1932.Builders of BAM came here in 1977.There is a village counsel and Larba timber-cutting agency in the settlement.Also, there is a secondary school, a library, an outpatient clinic and a communications center.Population is 767 persons.

Dzheltulak: a settlement 47 km south from Tynda.AYH runs through it.The village was founded in 1914 and up until 1953 remained an administrative center of Dzheltulak (currently Tynda) area.There are no permanent residents here now.

There are a total of 25 small towns and villages in the Tynda area.Out of all of them one is a town, one is a large settlement with town characteristics and the rest are just villages.13 of them are railroad stations.The smaller settlements are Lapri and Strelka.The populated centers are located along two directions: from west to east, along BAM mainline, and from south to north, along AYH.
